Kyle Farris made a name for himself in his first Olympics, setting the American record for the clean and jerk (202kg) as well as total weight lifted (362kg). He finished eighth in the final standings in Beijing.

2012 Favorite
Farris is in the mix of favorites expected to medal in London. He had to settle for bronze in the 85kg weight class at the 2011 Pan American Games after winning gold the previous year. In 2011, Farris, who will turn 26 just before the start of the London Games, won his fourth national championship as an 85kg.
